14-year-old Mamta loves school and tries hard to attend school and study as much as possible even though she has many chores and responsibilities. She aspires to pursue her education and eventually college.
With a taanka, which collects water during the summer monsoon, Mamta will have time to attend school. Mamta’s family will also learn how to set up a garden using Khadin cultivation, which uses run-off rainwater for agriculture. As a result, Mamta’s family will be able to grow green vegetables and fruits like lemons and pomegranates; giving them more nutritious food and incomes.
